Bradley J. Dean, CFM, CE, is currently detailed as the Director for Flood & Resilience Policy with the Council on Environmental Quality. When he is not detailed, Dean leads the new DHS Science & Technology Earth Systems Science Technology Center. The center focuses on how Earth systems are interacting with human, technological, and climate change to identify emerging risks and potential solutions for public safety and security.
Dean also is adjunct faculty with Georgetown Universityā€™s Emergency and Disaster Management Program and is a Senior Fellow with Tulane Universityā€™s Disaster Resilience Leadership Academy. He serves on the National Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicineā€™s Transportation Research Board Standing Committee on Extreme Weather & Climate Change Adaptation. Previously, he was the Resilience Planning Practice Lead with Michael Baker International and started his career at NOAAā€™s Office for Coastal Management in the Geospatial Sciences Program. Dean is a Certified Ecologist and Certified Floodplain Manager.
