Dr. Som Shrestha is a Senior R&D staffer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory with 14 years of experience as a researcher, 5 years conducting energy assessments of manufacturing facilities, and 10 years as a mechanical engineer. His current research includes developing superinsulation materials, novel building envelope designs that divert thermal energy from building envelopes, thermal energy storage systems, and advanced controls for building applications to increase the energy efficiency, energy demand flexibility, resilience, and decarbonization of buildings. He is an ASHRAE-certified Building Energy Modeling Professional and 2025 ASHRAE Winter Conference Technical Chair.
