
Illya Azaroff, FAIA. Professor in Practice at New York City College of Technology (CUNY) and founding principal of +LAB architect PLLC, building resilient capacity and advancing goals for a sustainable, regenerative future while giving underserved communities greater voice and visibility. A recognized leader in disaster mitigation, resilient planning, and regenerative design strategies, he is part of Resilient 21, a coalition advising the Whitehouse on resilient strategies. Advancing culturally significant community resilience hubs and regenerative cluster housing in several communities across the world, Illya was part of US State Department missions in Kyrgyzstan and Turkey following the 2023 earthquakes. He was the 2021 AIA New York State President and is the 2025 President of AIA National. Working in the field for over 30 years, in the US/NY, Germany, Italy, and Holland, Azaroff received his MArch and BArch from Pratt Institute and also earned a BAS and BA from University of Nebraska.
