Founder and president of ONUMA, Inc., Kimon Onuma, FAIA, is a trailblazer at the intersection of architecture, technology, and Building Informed Environments™.
With over three decades of experience, Onuma has guided the industry toward information-driven design, championing the use of BIM since 1993. One of his significant contributions is the creation of BIMStorm, an international event that brings industry organizations into a virtual environment to explore forward-looking technology uses such as BIM, digital twins, and artificial intelligence.
Onuma led the Data Framework work group for the NIBS Digital Twin Integration Subcommittee and co-authored the recently released Digital Twins for the Built Environment position paper. He also provides input on the development of the National BIM Standard – United States.
Onuma is an author and speaker and contributes to industry literature and presentations worldwide. His approach to design and collaboration with various federal agencies continues to shape the building industry.
