Stanton Stafford a Principal and Office Leader for Buro Happold’s Atlanta Studio. A 2021 LEED Fellow, Stanton has spent his 20+ year career between Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, GA focused on performance- based, integrated system design and operations. As the Mechanical Engineer of Record, he has designed over two million square feet of LEED Platinum Certified buildings and helped deliver Living Building Challenge, LEED Platinum, WELL and Zero Net Energy benchmark projects in the Southeastern United States.
Nationally, Stanton is the Immediate Past Chair of ASHRAE's Technical Committee 2.8 (TC 2.8) – Building Environmental Impacts and Sustainability, the cognizant TC supporting ASHRAE Standards 90.1 and 189.1 and the ASHRAE Green Guide. Stanton also co-founded and served as a Charter Member of ASHRAE SPC228 which developed a Standard Method for Evaluating Zero Energy and Zero Carbon Building Performance. In Atlanta, Stanton is a Founding Board Member and Past Chair of the Lifecycle Building Center of Greater Atlanta, an entrepreneurial, not-for- profit delivering triple bottom-line value around building material salvage and reuse. He has also served on Boards for the Georgia Chapter of the United States Green Building Council, The University of Georgia’s Mechanical Engineering Department and is a member of both the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s and Georgia Trend Magazine’s 40 Under 40 Alumni Groups.
An avid baseball fan and traveler, Stanton resides in North Georgia with his wife, Cortney, and three children.
