For nearly 17 years, Sam Rashkin served as National Director, ENERGY STAR for Homes with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, leading the nation's most successful voluntary label program for energy efficient homes from inception through major market transformation goals. This included more than 1.2 million labeled homes and 25 percent-plus market penetration.
He didn't stop there. For nearly a decade after his EPA work, Rashkin served as the Chief Architect in the Building Technologies Office with the U.S. Department of Energy, where he led the development of high-performance home initiatives and disseminated them to the U.S. housing industry.
Today, Rashkin is the Founder of Housing 2.0., a program that empowers building professionals to design and construct higher performance, healthier, and more sustainable homes at a lower cost. Rashkin's book — Housing 2.0: A Disruption Survival Guide — was published in September 2021. Its aim: To shake up the home building industry, ushering it into a new era of efficiency and profitability.
