Niloufar Ghazanfari joined the EDP program in the fall of 2022. She grew up in Tehran, the capital of Iran, where she pursued her undergraduate and master's degree. She received her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the Sharif University of Technology and her master’s degree in Hydraulic Structures Engineering from the University of Tehran, both among the high-ranked engineering universities in her country.
During the past years, Ghazanfari had the opportunity to join SMteam, Meilen company in Zurich as a civil engineer and participate in several construction projects. She is currently the teaching assistant in two courses: “Building Systems Technology” and “Building Performance and Energy Management” offered in the Building Construction program at Virginia Tech. Ghazanfari is interested in the sustainable design of buildings and energy-efficient structures. The main goal of her research is to explore an innovative computational method to make the built environment more efficient and sustainable.
