Hung Ming Tseng is a researcher with Cornell’s Environmental Systems Lab, focusing on urban building energy modeling, cost-benefit analysis, and decarbonization at scale. Tseng drives innovative research by developing computational tools that cut across various scales to reduce both operational and embodied carbon for building stocks.
Since receiving the Andrew M. Mellon Social Impact Award and AAP Engagement Impact Grant, he has been collaborating with the City of Ithaca and RMI to create automated workflows for municipalities to mitigate building emissions while quantifying the cost-effectiveness of energy efficiency policies. He explored how socioeconomic energy models help update code supplements for existing buildings and facilitate large-scale energy transitions.
