David Schnerch, PhD, PE, is a Principal and Senior Engineer and Building Science Specialist with RDH Building Science in Boston. Schnerch also serves as Vice President of the Structural Engineers Association of Massachusetts and previously served as the president of the Boston Association of Structural Engineers.
Dr. Schnerch’s 20-plus years of experience on over 1,000 projects as a consulting engineer has primarily involved problem solving and failure investigations of building structures, facades, and building materials, including primary structure, cladding, and interior finishes such as tile and high-performance coatings.
This work has included structural and facade condition assessments, investigations, construction troubleshooting, and review of disputes involving water and air infiltration, cracking, displacement, adjacent construction, collapse, among other building problems. Dr. Schnerch has developed repairs for historic and contemporary buildings. He maintains an active FAA license as a small Unmanned Aircraft (sUAS or drone) pilot.
