With more than 35 years of architectural experience, Cheryl Smith, AIA, LEED AP, is the Senior Studio Leader for the National Mixed-Use Practice at NELSON. Smith promotes the firm’s values and culture and is responsible for the resource management, business, design, and technical performance of the practice. She is active on several national boards, including an executive member of the AIA National Manufacturers Council and chair of the Advancement Council for the College of Architecture and the Built Environment at Jefferson University. Smith is a past executive of AIA Building Performance Knowledge Community, past AIA Liaison to the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS), past co-chair for Philadelphia Building Enclosure Council (BEC) and the BEST5 Conference. She has authored several articles on sustainability and adaptive re-use, has appeared as a guest critic, and has presented at several national conferences including BEST5, Glass Con Global and AIA National Convention.
